Roundwood Craft.....
....is the work of Rudi Meseg and a few esteemed friends!
In 2007 Rudi undertook an apprenticeship with woodsman and ecobuilder Ben Law, builder of the nation's favourite Grand Designs project ‘The woodland house’ at Prickly Nut Wood. After a year working in the coppiced woodland, making woodland products and learning how to build with roundwood, Rudi was among the first to join Ben’s new Roundwood Timber Framing Company in 2008. Rudi was instrumental in developing the roundwood timber-framing building technique with Ben and others. He has worked on numerous projects, both with The Roundwood Timber Framing co, and his own Roundwood Craft company. |
As well as Rudi....
...other craftsmen are drafted in when a project calls for it. Our biggest job yet was co-designing and building the award winning Tree Lodges for The Bivouac in Yorkshire. This job saw Rudi directly overseeing 14 other carpenters, including 6 who specialise in roundwood timber-framing, and coordinating other trades on site. Quality natural materials....
...are also important to us. We are passionate about finding the most natural, most environmentally friendly material for the job, whilst recognising that the ability of a material to fulfill its required function comes first. We do not use "green" products for the sake of being "green". A product or material must be top quality and perform to the highest standards.
